Settled In For A Long Winter's Day With My Favorite Little Girl

The weather man was right :( It has been snowing since some time last night. It is to continue through tomorrow. I know it was wishful thinking, but I was hoping for the rest of the winter to be snowless.

Missy Pete is home today, so we have already gone for a ride with dad, played with blocks, read books, chased the cat around and now she is doing her favorite activity: turning the lights/fans on and off. I know, it's something I'm not thrilled about her doing, but she seems to enjoy it so much. She's already moved on to something else. I wish I could have that kind of energy, oh does she wear me out somedays. My house would be spotless, all my craft projects would be done and ready to be put out at the shop, my shop would be spotless and set back up for the spring season; if only!

Missy Pete has already asked to light some candles. I think the genes have already started to show. She's already so much like her mom and gma. Maybe this afternoon we will pack up the snowman, she helped gather up on Saturday. She is such a good little helper. At 18 mons she amazes me everyday. I for see mac and cheese for lunch. That's okay, I'm still a fan of mac and cheese. Hopefully we can get a few things accomplished today. Sometimes she's a good distraction too :)

Enough ramblings for now. Stay warm!

New Everyday Items Arriving Daily

I thought I would show off a few of the new items I've gotten in the last week or so. Since I've been under the weather, I'm a bit behind. If you are anything like me, you keep telling yourself spring will be here soon. I have noticed that the days are staying lighter, longer. That's always a good thing :) Here's a sample of what I've gotten in.

The Winter Blahs Have Struck

Those of us who live in the cold weather climate, HATE this time of year. I think it has officially struck me, cabin fever that is! I am dying to get outside and put my hands in the dirt and start planting. My husband claims he bought me a new lawnmower last week. I told him in May when the grass is lush and green and it's about 65 degrees out, I will love it. Right now, I could care less.
We own several properties, so we have lots of mowing to do. My first question was "Does it have a cupholder?" It's not that big of deal, but I know he always rolls his eyes at me when I ask this. He can say YES! this time. When the weather turns and the grass is green, I will let you know how I like it :)
Last Sunday morning I woke up with the flu. I had it into Monday. Well then it moved into my chest with a nasty hack and head cold. Then moving into sore throats and ear infections. I finally made an appointment with an ENT. Let's hope he'll see the need to remove my tonsils, and I can get over all these sore throats and ear infections for good. I just hope he can schedule it around my times of being open this spring/summer. Of course, my hubby is thrilled I won't be able to talk for awhile. That just means I'll send him a text with my requests, and he can wait on me :) I kind of like that idea!
Until next time, stay healthy!
I'm posting a pic of my new lawnmower :)

A Few New Billy Jacobs Prints

I just wanted to share with you, a few of the new prints I got in over the weekend. I love Billy Jacobs! Maybe because I grew up on a farm and love all his farm scenes. He has started a new adventure of doing photographs, but they still have his "folk art" touch to them. These are 4 of them I got in. I also got several new springy, summery barn prints in. Enjoy

Looking for New Crafters and Consigners

As we continue to grow and expand at The Rusty Nickel, I am always interested in adding new things. Right now I'm interested in people who do painted furniture/wares, rug hooking or needle punching and primitive fabric items. If you are at all interested, I would love to chat with you. Thank you

Welcome Snowy Friends

I was reading in the paper earlier this week, that 49 out of our 50 states have received snow this week. Amazingly Hawaii was one of them...the only to be spared is my former, brief residence of Florida. Oh what I would do to be on the sandy white beaches of the Emerald Coast right about now! I can wish, I suppose!

Since the shop is closed this time of year, I thought I would try to share some things around my house and when I get new things in, try to post a few pictures. We briefly tried to take Missy Pete, my 18 mon old daughter, sledding on Wednesday. It was not quite the hit I was hoping it would be. My daughter loves to be outside, she was fine going down the hill but she wasn't fine when we stopped. Maybe next time will be better.

I also am posting a few of the frosty friends that are still standing post around my house. I live in Northern Iowa, the snow won't melt for months! I don't do Valentine's Day, I am far from a romantic! I have seen some very cute primitive V-Day items, but just can't get myself into the spirit of the holiday. We don't do St. Patrick's Day at my house, either. Spring and Easter are just too far off, so my snowmen remain. Until they melt, enjoy!

Where Are You Tricycle?

It has been snowing here in Northern Iowa since early yesterday morning. We still have several inches left from the 20+ we had gotten in December (luckily lots melted during a brief warm spell.) This is a picture out my back deck at the little picket fences I put up to cover the ugly barbed wire fence in the field behind our house. We planted 2 red twig dogwood bushes, but you would never know. You can see I started decorating them with greenery and that night it snowed so much I couldn't get back there. Guess it'll hang there 'til some of this snow melts. The fence that has the greenery, you can just barely see the handle bars of my old tricycle that is in the flower bed. It's like it's playing peek-a-boo. Something my 18 mon old is good at, so we know this all too well at our house. The other side has an old rusty metal chair and bicycle. They are also playing peek-a-boo. Teasing me, saying spring is much too far off. Stay warm!
